SSI Swim Teacher Certifications
It’s incredibly rewarding watching people take the first steps into the water and helping them to feel confident and comfortable in this element.
The Swim Schools International program of Swim Teacher courses provides all the necessary training and skills to allow you to teach and train people of all ages and abilities in swimming.
Level 1 Swim Teachers are able to apply the best techniques and goals for the youngest of swimmers.
Comfort via repetition is key for training the swim teacher and this is achieved through home study programs, classroom instruction, multimedia presentations and in-water training.
Once certified, the Level 1 swim teacher is able to teach the following:
- Aquatike I (3 year old only)
- Aquatike II (3 year old only)
- Aquatike III (3 year old only)
- Pre-school beginners (4-5 year old only)
- Advanced pre-school beginner (4-5 year old only)
- Beginner I, II & III (5-17 year old)
The Level 2 Swim Teacher moves onto more advanced training techniques, which focus on fine-tuning techniques and efficiency in the water.
More competitive elements are introduced via competitive backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly.
A Level 2 Swim Teacher is certified to teach the following classes:
- Intermediate I
- Intermediate II
- Advanced I
- Advanced II
- Junior Olympians
Teaching adults to swim requires a different skill set to that for teaching children.
Adult Swim Teachers are trained in special skills for teaching physically larger and stronger swimmers, as well as ways of managing lifelong aquatic fear factors often present in adult non-swimmers.
The levels covered by a Adult Swim Teacher certification include:
- Adult Beginner
- Adult Advanced
When dealing with children in the water, additional constraints and techniques are required. The Baby & Me certification is designed to help teachers deal with our youngest swimmers – those between 6 months and 2 years old. Education on this course is also geared towards the parents to help them understand the issues being faced.
Aquababy is an additional level covered in this course.
Parent or guardian supervision is required when teaching these courses.
Take you swimming teaching to a new level and become certified to train and certify Level 1 Swim Teacher, Level 2 Swim Teacher, Adult Swim Teacher and Baby & Me Swim Teachers.
Being a Swim Teacher Trainer opens up additional doors by not only allowing you to offer the entire Swim Schools International programs, but by allowing you to train new instructors.
